Carpet Dyeing Melbourne
Dyes used by Carpet Colour Restorations are professional grade, stable dyes. They are as stable as the dyes that are used in mills during the manufacturing of carpet and rugs. We guarantee that our dyes are permanent and colorfast for the life of the carpet.
All dyes and solutions that we use are completely non-toxic and odour-free. Our process is fully safe for you, your children, and your pets. Material Safety Data Sheets are available for your inspection.
Carpet Dyeing services are provided on site. Persian & Oriental Rug cleaning & colour restorations are completed in our specially-equipped work shop.
Freshly-dyed carpet may be walked on immediately. Though the carpet will be slightly damp, the dyes are immediately colourfast. Carpet will fully dry in a few short hours.
It is much cheaper to have your carpet dyed than to replace it. Carpet dyeing will typically save you 65-85% when compared to the cost of new carpet replacement.
Dyes are not like paints. Dyes are translucent and cannot cover up any darker colours that are underneath. Therefore if you have beige carpet with a black stain, using beige dye will not cover up this stain. We therefore have to attempt to remove the black stain first, which is usually able to be achieved with a specialized stain removal processes.
We are bound by the physics of colour: we cannot cover a darker stain with a lighter colour. During the dye test and confirmation of quote process we can mix various colour combinations to show different achievable effects.
As there could be a myriad of residues, oily substances and other unknown matter on the carpet fibers, we always recommend cleaning your carpets first with our safe and non toxic process which leaves the fibers in a neutral state and free of anything that will hamper the results. This is however, totally your choice and you may wish to use your own carpet cleaner; please just ensure it is with a neutral pH solution and not with a carpet cleaning shampoo as this leaves behind residue and can hamper the results.
We can mix dyes into thousands of shades. Colours vary on every carpet, so your carpet colour will be unique. Together we can see which new colour will best hide stains and which will give the best appearance.
As previously mentioned our dyes are not a coating, like paint, so lighter shades will be affected by existing patterns, stains etc., while deeper shades will override these more.
(Eg: visualize a cream carpet with yellow pet urine stains. If dyed light blue the result will be a light blue carpet with greenish stains in it. If instead we dyed it a deeper colour like a brown or charcoal colour, the urine stains are more likely to become far less noticeable, if not invisible. We can advise on best colour combinations to try and achieve your aims.
For bleach spot dyeing there is no need to move anything. For carpet colour changes, we can move most furniture items, however large items such as heavy chest of draws, large heavy wooden beds, pianos, etc need to be removed prior to our arrival. We do ask that you have all small and loose items removed from the floor as well as any fragile items. For full room dyes, it is best that the room is empty upon our arrival.
An average house or apartment is completed in 1 day. Occasionally a residential property needs to be dyed over 2 visits due to furniture restrictions.
We can do large commercial areas quickly… whole office floors over one weekend. We can even dye around work stations saving down time and expense.
After a carpet is dyed the rooms will look bigger, younger and clean; most often the carpet will look less than a quarter of its age. We cannot promise new, as normal wear factors and past chemical spills and treatments do come into play, but the overall effect is a great improvement, adding years of useful life to the carpet and saving you thousands in replacement costs.
